IT is key to keeping the EU institutions functioning properly and to carrying out work which affects the lives of millions of Europeans. If you have a qualification in information technology, you can apply to work for the EU institutions either as an IT administrator or assistant. Contract staff may also be employed to work in the IT and telecommunications field.
Your work as an IT administrator may involve project and process management, monitoring and analysis, technical analysis and advice, interservice coordination and consultation, telecommunications services, data processing centres, management and supervision of e-mail services, data and voice network services, web development, development of software for statistical data collection, and IT security management.
You must have a good command of at least 2 EU languages, a degree or postgraduate qualification in information and communication technology, for entry at Grade AD 5 (entry level for permanent administrators), and several years’ relevant experience, to join us at a more senior level (Grade AD 7).
To join at Grade AST 3 (assistant) level, you must have a good command of at least 2 EU languages and either post-secondary education and at least a few years' professional experience depending on the competition, or secondary education and several years' professional experience depending on the competition.
