Administrators and experts in the fields of defence industry and space

Do you have experience in the fields of defence industry and space? Would you like to start an international career within a multicultural and diverse team? If yes, then read on.

The European Commission is looking for administrators (AD 7) and experts (AD 9) in the fields of defence industry and space. Recruited professionals will work mainly at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Defence Industry and Space (DG DEFIS).

We offer opportunities to candidates who fit any of the profiles below. Please note that you may only apply for one field and for one grade within the chosen field.

  • Field 1 – Defence industry

Administrators (AD 7): Your main tasks will include drafting and monitoring EU defence industrial and defence internal market policy, working on the setting of funding priorities for European defence programmes, monitoring and analysing technology and market trends for defence, designing and monitoring activities to support EU defence-related entrepreneurship and industry.

Experts (AD 9): In addition to the tasks mentioned above, experts will also negotiate and monitor complex legal and administrative agreements, coordinate and supervise teams and represent the Commission in discussions and negotiations with the main stakeholders in the defence sector.

  • Field 2 - Space

Administrators (AD 7): Your main tasks will include contributing to the development of the EU space policy and to the implementation of the EU Space Programme and future space-related programmes, supervising the Space Programme activities, designing and monitoring activities to support EU space-related entrepreneurship and industry, developing and monitoring actions to enhance synergies of the EU space policy and Programme with other Union policies.

Experts (AD 9): In addition to the tasks mentioned above, you will also negotiate and monitor complex legal and administrative agreements in the field of space and coordinate and supervise teams.

Do you have what it takes?

To apply, you must be an EU citizen, have a thorough knowledge of one official EU languageand a satisfactory knowledge of English. You will also need to meet the following criteria that vary according to the different fields:

  • Administrators (AD7): Field 1/Field 2: You must have a university degree of at least 4 years followed by at least 6 years of relevant professional experience - or a university degree of at least 3 years followed by a minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experts (AD9): Field 1/Field 2: You must have a university degree of at least 4 years followed by at least 10 years of relevant professional experience - or a university degree of at least 3 years followed by a minimum of 11 years of relevant professional experience.
