As you know, the first stage of the application process for the AD5 graduate competition is now closed.

We have received just over 30 000 applications and we wanted to thank you all for registering.

Post date: 04/05/2017 - 10:00

With just a week to go it's time for you to decide what kind of applicant you'd like to be. Leaving it to the last minute risking complications or using the little time that's left by taking a few minutes to complete your registration.

The decision is in your hands. Please check that you still have access to your EPSO account and remember to send any questions you may have to the Candidate Contact Service by the 30th of April as any queries sent after this date may not be answered before the deadline for registration (Wednesday 03/05/2017 – 12:00 Brussels time).

Commissioner, Günther H. Oettinger
Media Folder:

Dear all

Today we have launched our new recruitment competition for talented graduates – and I would be very happy to see highly competent and motivated young people from across the European Union apply. It is a unique opportunity, as it is the first general graduate competition to be launched for two years.

If you have just graduated – in any discipline - or will have done so by 31st July 2017, this could be the right opportunity for you!  With over 120 new roles to be filled across all areas of work, we are looking for highly motivated and dynamic individuals to help shape the future of the European Union! If you are looking to work in an international, multilingual and exciting environment where the work you do will contribute to making a real difference to the Europe of tomorrow, then this is the place for you!

For the very first time, you will not only be able to sit the first round of tests in all 24 official languages of the European Union, but for subsequent stages of the competition and based on the languages declared by the candidates when they apply, you will also be able to choose from 5 rather than only 3 languages - as was the case in the past.

Of course, you have to show that you are able and eager to work for the EU in a multi-cultural environment and know 2 EU languages. The registration is open until 03/05/2017

Speaking for myself, as EU Commissioner for Budget & HR, coming from one of the German Länder where I have worked as Prime Minister, I can only say that working in an international environment is an experience in itself and is exceptionally rewarding - I have never regretted it!

I sincerely hope that you will apply!

Günther H. Oettinger

Only a small number of applicants are successful in the yearly graduate administrator competition. It is only Europe's best and brightest who make it to the end of the competition.

If you'd like to know whether you are likely to meet the high standards required to succeed, you can start by taking a look at our sample tests.

Which EU languages do I need to speak if I wish to apply for this competition?

We need common languages to work together and that's why we will ask you to help us choose!
When you register for the competition, you will need to declare at least 2 EU official languages of which you have a satisfactory knowledge and in which you are ready to work. At the end of the registration period, we will take the most commonly declared languages and compare them with the needs of the Institutions. The top 5 languages matching the needs of the Institutions will be those used for the second half of the competition.

EPSO is launching a new competition for graduates (grade AD5) this spring!

What does a graduate administrator do?

Graduate administrators typically work in one of the EU Institutions, within a team, and focus on policy formulation, operational delivery and resource management. The field in which such graduates carry out these tasks is dependent on which institution or service recruits them. An administrator post is open to graduates in any discipline.

Interested?  More information coming soon on!
