Experts are often tasked with developing policies and new laws; implementing and managing existing legislation and programmes; performing research and analysis; providing policy perspectives; carrying out checks; participating in international meetings and negotiations, among many others. 

Key qualifications

Qualifications for these posts vary according to the nature of the position.  Generally, you must have a good command of at least two EU languages, a degree in a related field and a few or several years’ relevant professional experience.
